history

The stadium opened in 1947 and is part of the city's sports complex. In addition to the stadium, this includes an athletics facility , a sports hall , an indoor swimming pool , artificial turf fields , a tennis facility , volleyball and basketball courts and a skate park . The first renovation took place in 1962. At the time, the stadium had 3557 seats. The capacity increased to 4,500 when it was expanded in 1996. In February 2001, the Uruguayan national soccer team visited the stadium for an international match against the Slovenes. The first international game in the stadium ended with a 0-2 for the South Americans.

An extensive renovation of the stadium took place in 2010. The sports facility was adapted to the requirements of UEFA . The main and the VIP stands behind the gate are covered with a roof. The tubular steel grandstands in the west consist of two parts. A large video scoreboard is set up behind her. In the middle of the tier is the press stand. On the side of the opposite stand , also made of tubular steel, are the two replacement benches . All tiers are uniformly equipped with new plastic seats. Eight changing rooms have been set up inside. The masts of the floodlight system are 43 meters high and have an illuminance of 1200 lux . The playing field has been increased by 1.65 meters. The renovation took eight months and cost the city of Koper nine million euros .
