The ships of the city district class 2 , the type ship Treptow and 7 series ships of this class were built from 1969 to 1980 at the Karl-Grieseler-Werft Mukrena .
history
The yacht yard Berlin was originally intended as a construction yard , but was busy, so the shipyard in Mukrena an der Saale (the former Karl Grieseler shipyard) , which is mainly engaged in ship repairs, was commissioned with the construction of this series. The type ship of the city district class 2, the Treptow, was a little too short for the shipping area in the Berlin area , because it was built in Finow dimensions . This original type of ship was lengthened, the bridge was moved very far forward to the bow and the engine room was lowered. Because of the low bridges in Berlin, half of the passenger compartments were located above the water and half below the waterline. Series production began in 1972 with the Fontane ship for the White Fleet in Waren (Müritz) . The other ships were built over a period of eight years with annual delivery. The White Fleet in Berlin received five ships and the White Fleet in Waren received two ships.
The ships of the series
All ships of this type of ship are still active in Germany today.
The passenger ships Treptow , Friedrichshain , Lichtenberg , Pankow and Prenzlauer Berg operate for the Stern and Kreisschiffahrt in Berlin. The Phantasia with its home port Hennigsdorf sails for the shipping company Grimm & Lindecke, which has an office in Berlin-Mitte with docks at Schiffbauerdamm 2, at the Nordhafen, Rummelsburger Bucht, Butterfly Horst as well as in Hennigsdorf and Oranienburger Stadthafen. The White Fleet Müritz GmbH manages the Fontane and the Lübz drives for the White Fleet (Schwerin). In 2001 it replaced the smaller Vidin , which is now used as the Spree in the Berlin area by the Kutzker shipping company.

The original sailing area was Spree tours through the divided inner city of Berlin or round trips to the Müggelsee. Until the fall of the Berlin Wall, the area was restricted more and more. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, Berlin's huge sailing area has been available.
