history
The sacred building, which was dedicated as Marienkirche in the pre-Reformation period, was renamed “Jakobskirche” after an extension at the beginning of the 16th century. In the early 17th century, the church was rebuilt in the margrave style under Superintendent Johann Christoph Layritz .
In a town fire in 1823 the church burned down and the parishes burned down. After the reconstruction, a service was celebrated for the first time on October 31, 1827, Reformation Day.
Extensive renovations took place in the 1950s and 1984/85. In 2010 the outside facade of the church was renewed.
