The urban region of Krems an der Donau is an Austrian agglomeration in Lower Austria . The region consists of the core zone (code: SR191) with the statutory city of Krems an der Donau , Mautern an der Donau and Rohrendorf bei Krems as well as the outer zone (code: SR192) with eleven other surrounding municipalities from the Krems-Land district .
Around one sixth of the population of the central Lower Austria area (Krems, Tulln, St. Pölten and Lilienfeld) live in the fourteen municipalities of the Krems urban region. Page no longer available , search in web archives:
History of the classification
The delimitation of the urban regions (urban centers) was carried out by Statistics Austria for 1971 to 2001 every 10 years. For the reference date October 31, 2013, delimitation was carried out for the first time according to the urban-rural typology developed by Statistics Austria for statistical purposes , which integrates the delimitation of the city regions.
