from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stalking Cat (stalking cat) , also Catman (cat man) , (real name Dennis Avner , born August 27, 1958 in Whidbey Island , † November 5, 2012 in Tonopah , Nevada) was an American body artist. With numerous body modifications he has made his appearance match that of a tiger .

Life

Avner started out as a sonar technician and also worked as a programmer. Due to his unusual appearance, he became increasingly known, traveled frequently to interviews and photo opportunities and appeared on the television shows Ripley's Believe It or Not! , Larry King Live , VH1 and Totally Obsessed just like in the movie Modify .

Avner's parents are descended from the Wyandot and Lakota . He himself stated that the changes in his body were an old Wyandot tradition to resemble his own totem . He began his modifications under the name Stalking Cat after a conversation with a chief who inspired him to "follow in the footsteps of a tiger". He himself owned several cats with whom he maintained an intense relationship. The head of the Albany Medical College for Bioethics in New York City , Glenn McGee, commented on Stalking Cat that cosmetic surgery should only be carried out carefully after carefully weighing the benefits and risks, harm cannot be ruled out and this patient is based on it Tradition itself going to harm.

In total, Avner invested over $ 100,000 in its modifications, many of which were done by Arizona artist Steve Haworth .

Modifications

His physical changes included:

  • large area tattoos , also on the face,
  • Change of hairline,
  • Piercings in the mouth area for the insertion of whiskers ,
  • Implants to change the shape of the eyebrows and forehead,
  • shortened and sharpened teeth,
  • Contact lenses with slit-shaped pupils,
  • surgically pointed ears,
  • various silicone injections into the lips, cheeks, chin and other parts of the face.

Furthermore, he had to put on a permanent coat in order to come even closer to a cat-like appearance.
