Modify is a documentary (USA 2005 ) that deals with the most varied of body art and body modification .

content

This film deals with socially accepted (e.g. cosmetic surgery ) and other forms of change. It is not easy to say where the line between modification and mutilation is . The topics are piercings and the widening of them, tattoos , scarifications , implants , body suspension , travesty , sex reassignment operations , plastic surgery and bodybuilding .

The film shows over 30 people who have permanently changed the surface of their bodies, sometimes in very unusual ways. The performing artists, doctors, cutters and tattooists talk about their experiences with the implementation of the respective modification, so that a lot can be learned about the ideas, backgrounds, traditions and ceremonies.
