Erik Sprague (The Lizardman)

Erik Sprague (* 12. June 1972 ), known by the stage name The Lizardman (The Lizard Man), is an American Freak - and show artists of his body by a plurality of body modifications such as large-scale tattoos , a forked tongue , ground teeth and jewelry implants has made it look like a lizard.

He works worldwide as a performance artist and fakir with classic show effects such as swallowing fire and swords , lying on boards of nails and eating insects and often appears in television shows, most recently on the ITV television channel . In addition, he often takes part in public and private suspensions and, as a modern primitive, is heavily involved in the body modification scene.

Private

After his birth, Erik Sprague grew up with his three years younger sister Eirin in Ellenburg ( Clinton County , USA ). He studied philosophy at Hartwick Collage in Oneonta on a scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Program . He graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts . In 1996 he began his doctoral thesis at Albany University , which he dropped out in 1999 to devote himself fully to his non-academic career.

On November 19, 2003, he married his wife Meghan, whom he had known since 1999, in Las Vegas . He has lived in Austin with Meghan since 2001 .

Body modifications

Erik Sprague began his body modification at the age of 21 . He was inspired by the TV series V - The extraterrestrial visitors are coming . Over the course of several years, Erik Sparque initially changed his appearance with the motif of lizard scales . He let his tongue go by Dr. Lawrence Busino ( Albany ) using a laser to split them . In 1998 his teeth were sharpened by a dentist . That year the implants were also placed on his forehead . He had his body modified in a total of more than 700 hours. He spent around 250,000 US dollars on this . In addition to several piercings, he wears widened ear holes , nipple piercings , an apadravya and a very stretched septum piercing .

For Chan Lee Peng, “The Lizardman” is one of the six most extremely changed people. For him, these include Elaine Davidson , Pauly Unstoppable , Michael Jackson , Erik Sprague and Stalking Cat . Other people with extreme body modifications are for example The Enigma and Lza Steyaert .

Erik Sprague is the frontman of the band Lizard Skynard . From 2003 to 2008 he was seen with the band Disturbed on their Jägermeister tour and in the film Modify as box boarders.

Appreciations

On June 24, 2011, Ripley's Believe It or Not! the wax figure "The Lizardman" is presented to the public. Since then it has been part of the permanent exhibition.
