Stanisław Szymecki (born January 26, 1924 in Załęska Hałda , today Katowice , Silesian Voivodeship , Poland ) is Archbishop Emeritus of Białystok .

Life

The Archbishop of Reims , Emmanuel Célestin Cardinal Suhard , dedicated it on July 3, 1947 in the chapel of the Polish Seminary in Paris for priests . The Apostolic Nuncio in France , Angelo Roncalli , also took part in this ceremony . Returned to Poland in 1948, he went to parish pastoral care. In 1961 he moved back to France, where he did his doctorate in fundamental theology at the Institut Catholique de Paris . From 1968 to 1978 he was rector of the seminary in Cracow.

Pope . John Paul II appointed him on 27 March 1981 for the Bishop of Kielce and donated to him on April 12 of that year in the Sistine Chapel , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were Szczepan Wesoły , auxiliary bishop in Gniezno , and Jan Gurda , auxiliary bishop in Kielce. On May 15, 1993 he was appointed Archbishop of Białystok.

On November 16, 2000, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

Stanisław Szymecki is Grand Officer of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
