Stanley Opoku Aborah (born June 23, 1987 in Kumasi , Ghana ) is a Ghanaian - Belgian soccer player . He is mainly used as an attacking midfielder .

career

Aborah was born in Ghana , but has also had Belgian citizenship since he was ten . His father Stanley Aborah played for Germinal Ekeren (now Germinal Beerschot ).

Stanley Aborah was initially active as a youth in the clubs RSC Anderlecht , Royal Cappellen , KAA Gent and Germinal Beerschot before he was accepted into the youth academy of Ajax Amsterdam . The captain of the Ajax youth team rose to the senior squad for the 2004/05 season and made his league debut on October 16, 2004 in a match against SC Heerenveen . He made his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League three days later in Ajax's victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv .

Aborah could not prevail at Ajax, however, and was loaned for the 2005/06 season to the Dutch second division club FC Den Bosch , where he should get more match practice. There he was used in 21 games and scored three goals.

During this time he was also appointed to the Belgian U-19 national team.

On January 3, 2007 Aborah was finally able to move on a free transfer and signed a two-year contract with the Belgian second division club FC Dender . In the summer of 2007 he moved to FC Den Bosch on a free transfer . In 2009 he left the club and moved to the second Slovak division for FK AS Trenčín , but stayed there for only one season. In August he moved to Football League Two , the fourth division of England, for Gillingham FC . His one-month contract was initially extended for two more months. His first use against Bradford City on September 18, however, was his only, on October 5, 2010 his contract in Gillingham was dissolved again.

He then returned to the continent, his other positions were again Royal Cappellen in Belgium (2011), Vitesse Arnheim in the Netherlands (2011/12) and ND Mura 05 in Slovenia (2012/13). In all clubs, however, he was only used sporadically and changed again at the end of the season. In the 2013/14 season Aborah was under contract with the Hungarian first division club Ferencváros Budapest .
