Started from the Bottom / Apocalyptic Infinity is a double single from his album Started from the Bottom / KrabbenKoke Tape released by the rapper Spongebozz on January 9, 2017 . While the first song deals with the beginnings and the rise of the rapper, the second contains several Disses against Kollegah , Genetikk , 187 Strassenbande and MoTrip .

Video and text

At 27 minutes in length, the official music video contains both Started from the Bottom and Apocalyptic Infinity . As in all the other videos, Spongebozz appears in a Spongebob costume with sunglasses. In some scenes, instead of the costume, he wears a black hoodie and a yellow bandana that covers his face. A visual difference between the cinematic presentation of the two songs is not discernible, in some cases filmed sequences are used twice.

Started from the bottom

Started from the Bottom is the first title and namesake of his new album Started from the Bottom / KrabbenKoke Tape . In this song, Spongebozz addresses his beginnings in the battle rap scene, so it is a storyteller song. In addition, numerous allusions are made to the rapper Sun Diego. Several parallels between him and Sun Diego are revealed - Spongebozz calls himself Capri Sun , which is a former alias of Sun Diego. The instrumentation of the track is characterized by the bass and the drums, a choir can be heard during the verses. The song also contains several instrumental parts that are heavily influenced by Cloud Rap .

Apocalyptic Infinity

Apocalyptic Infinity is deliberately formulated in a provocative manner and kept in the battle rap style. While many lines of text use the stylistic device of the unknown opponent, several established rappers are also dissed - including MoTrip , Fler , Friends of Nobody and the self-made crew. Further dissents are directed against the Youtuber ApoRed . Apocalyptic Infinity makes strong reference to the song Apocalyptic by Sun Diego from 2012. Spongebozz plays with his identity “like never before”.

From the minute 19:30 Spongebozz takes a position on Kollegah . He is mentioned several times by name and in an aggressive context. Finally, he indirectly announces “a 1000 bar long diss” against Kollegah.

background

Spongebozz's identity has been widely speculated over the course of his career. It was often suspected that it was the rapper Sun Diego , who had previously worked with Kollegah. Sun Diego was featured with several guest contributions on Kollegah's album Bossaura . Sun Diego later disappeared from the scene.

The song is not the first Disstrack of Spongebozz: Already in the years 2013 and 2014 he participated in the JuliensBlog -Battle on YouTube . Due to his success in the competition and the numerous music videos he became known to a wider public. Both titles could be won successfully. Then the departure from the competitions was announced. This was followed by his debut album Planktonweed Tape , which reached number one and three in the German and Austrian charts.

Kollegah supported claims that Sun was Diego Spongebozz and criticized him for his lack of transparency:

“I know SpongeBOZZ too. We once made an album together, ' Bossaura '. [...] I just think it's stupid that he doesn't slowly say: 'Okay, it's me, Sun Diego.' "

- Kollegah in Juice (# 157)

Spongebozz did not comment on the statements and stayed covered after the release of Planktonweed Tape .

publication

The video was published on YouTube on the night of January 9-10, 2017 at 11:44 p.m. It is Spongebozz's first release since the 2015 Planktonweed Tape album and can be seen as a comeback . The video reached over 20 million views on YouTube (as of 04/2020).

Response from Kollegah

Kollegah posted a picture on Facebook shortly after it was published . It shows him with his arms crossed and a pensive expression on his face. He titled it: "Come time, come dismay" . Observers of the scene interpret this as an indirect allusion on the part of Kollegah to write a counterattack. On March 10, 2017 he published the Freetrack Legacy , in which he responded to the diss.
