Arkhangelsk governorship
The governorship Arkhangelsk ( Russian Арха́нгельское наме́стничество , transcribed Arkhangelskoje namestnitschestvo , scientific transliteration Archangel'skoe namestničestvo ) was an administrative unit in the northeast of the Russian Empire , which existed from 1784 to 1796.
history
The Arkhangelsk governorship emerged from the Arkhangelsk Oblast , which was part of the Vologda governorship from 1780 to 1784 . By a ukase of Catherine the Great on March 15th, July / March 26, 1784 greg. The Arkhangelsk Oblast was split off as an independent administrative unit from the Vologda governorship and became the Arkhangelsk governorship. Administratively, like the previously existing Arkhangelsk Oblast, the governorship was divided into seven Ujesde .
The Arkhangelsk governorship was established on December 1st . / December 12th 1796 greg. transformed into the Arkhangelsk governorate by an ukase of Paul the First .
