Stefan Immerfall

Stefan Immerfall (born May 5, 1958 in Deggendorf ) is a German sociologist and university professor .

Life

Immerfall studied social sciences , economics and psychology at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and the Ruhr University Bochum , where he obtained his diploma in 1984 . In 1990 he was at the University of Passau with the work territory and voting behavior: modeling geopolitical and geo-economic processes to Dr. phil. PhD. Also in Passau in 1996 the habilitation took place .

From 1994 to 1996 Immerfall was DAAD -German Studies Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Department of Political Science, 1997 lecturer at Ålborg Universitetscenter . From 1997 to 1999 Immerfall was senior assistant for sociology at the University of Passau, then deputy professor for Peter Flora at the University of Mannheim

2000 followed Immerfall a call to the University of Education Schwäbisch Gmund a professor of Sociology. In a research semester in 2004/05 he was a guest at the European University Institute in Florence , at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and at Indiana University Bloomington .

In 2005/2006 Immerfall worked as a fellow at the Social Science Research Center in Berlin , and in 2010 as a visiting professor at Grand Valley State University . A research semester at the University of Cambridge followed in 2010/11 .

Research priorities

The main focus of his work is always the sociology of European integration , international comparative political economy and political sociology . He also deals with problems of the German economic and social constitution as well as with questions of civil society cohesion.
