Stefan Meissner (born March 8, 1973 in Bad Harzburg ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
Meissner began his professional career at Eintracht Braunschweig, moved to VfL Wolfsburg in 1994 , where he was voted Lower Saxony's Footballer of the Year in 1995 , and from there four years later to the Bundesliga relegated Karlsruher SC . After the re-promotion was missed in the 1998/99 season with a 5th place, things got worse in the next season and the KSC was relegated to the regional league. Meissner left the club and moved to Chemnitzer FC in the Regionalliga Nord . After he had lost his regular place there, he moved in the winter break of the 2004/05 season within the league to the second team of VfL Wolfsburg, with whom he was relegated to the Oberliga Nord at the end of the season . In 2005/06 he played 10 more times for Wolfsburg and then had to end his career due to cartilage damage in his knee.
From July 2010 Meissner was assistant coach of the U-19 team at 1. FC Kaiserslautern . Gunther Metz , Meissner's former teammate at Karlsruher SC, was the team's head coach until March 2011 . Since his move to FCK's U-17s, Meissner has been responsible for the U-19s as head coach. For the 2011/12 season, Meissner was the coach of the U-16 team and in October 2011 took over the post of coach of the U-17 team after the coach Guido Streichsbier, who had only started in the summer of 2011, had left the FCK.
