Stefanie Schumacher

Stefanie Schumacher (* 1976 , in Müllheim near Freiburg ) is a German classical accordionist .

Career

Schumacher studied accordion and piano at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich , deepened her accordion knowledge with Teodoro Anzellotti and graduated with a concert diploma from the Bern University of the Arts . Stefanie Schumacher belongs to the younger generation of accordionists who dedicate themselves to contemporary work for their instrument. Nikolaus Brass , Minas Borboudakis , Bernd Redmann , Viera Janárčeková , Helga Pogatschar and Moritz Eggert wrote solo works and chamber music for them . World premieres of works by Peter Michael Hamel , Sidney Corbettand Paul Engel took place at the Munich Biennale . Schumacher has been a member of the Zeitsprung ensemble since 2008 . She attended master classes a. a. with Hugo Noth , Stefan Hussong and Friedrich Lips . From 2003 to 2006 she received a scholarship from the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now grant and was awarded the City of Munich's music grant in 2009 and the Bavarian Art Prize in 2012.

The starting point for her solo CD Unanswered Questions from 2011 was Leoš Janáček's cycle On Overgrown Paths . In this work Janáček deals with the untimely death of his daughter Olga. In dealing with this death issue, solo works emerged, including Unanswered Questions as the title motif by Masha Khotimski, Alpha by Arash Safaian and Empathy by Laurence Traiger . As a soloist she was a guest at the Klangspuren Schwaz , the Oberstdorf Music Summer and the Days of New Music in Bamberg. Further appearances took place with the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the State Theater on Gärtnerplatz ; She also gave chamber concerts with members of the Munich Philharmonic , the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and made concert tours to Austria, France, Spain, Greece, Vietnam, Brazil and the USA.
