Steffen-Peter Ballstaedt

Steffen-Peter Ballstaedt (born September 11, 1946 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German psychologist and communication scientist . His main concern is the implementation of cognitive psychological findings in the practice of communication and teaching and learning (didactics). One focus is technical communication.

Life

Ballstaedt studied psychology and philosophy at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and at the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen . He received his diploma in psychology in 1974. He then worked as a research assistant at the German seminar at the University of Tübingen and from 1975 to 1977 he participated in the project "Communication language and the relationship between text and image" (headed by Erich Straßner ). From 1978 to 1987 Ballstaedt was a research assistant in the main research department at the German Institute for Distance Learning at the University of Tübingen and worked on the “Learning with Texts” project (headed by Heinz Mandl ). From 1987 to 1994 he worked as a research assistant in the learning research department at the German Institute for Distance Learning for the project “Knowledge acquisition with text and images” (headed by Heinz Mandl). From 1994 to 2000 Ballstaedt was a research assistant in the Applied Cognitive Science department at the German Institute for Distance Learning Research and worked on the project "Visualizations in multimedia learning environments" (headed by Friedrich Wilhelm Hesse ).

On September 1, 2000, he became professor for technical documentation in the journalism & technical communication course at the Gelsenkirchen University of Applied Sciences (now the Westfälische Hochschule Gelsenkirchen Bocholt Recklinghausen ). In the winter semester 2005/2006 he became professor for applied communication science in the journalism and public relations course at the Gelsenkirchen University of Applied Sciences, where he worked until August 2012.

He has been a freelance lecturer since September 1, 2012.

More functions

Since 1990 Ballstaedt has been an industrial lecturer for topics such as understandable writing, impressive visualization, multimedia design and individual knowledge management at numerous institutions of further education.
