Steffen Beck (born October 19, 1963 ) is a German football coach who has been the head coach of the U20 team at VfL Wolfsburg and the sporting director of the youth center there since the 2019/20 season .
Career
Beck held various positions at Blau Weiss Ragow from July 2002 to December 2010 , including as coach of the youth teams and goalkeeper and assistant coach of the first men's team. During this time he completed his training to obtain a C-Trainer license (May 2005) and later also a B-Trainer license (recognized today as the DFB Elite Youth License , 2009).
In January 2011 he became the head coach of the women's team at 1. FC Union Berlin . With the club he joined in 2014 in the 2nd Women's Bundesliga on, was in the same year the Berlin cup winner and took in the 2014/15 season at the Women DFB Cup part. After the club's immediate relegation to the Regionalliga Nordost , Beck ended his activity in Berlin in June 2015 and moved to Jena . He was with the Thuringians from July 2015, first under Daniel Kraus , later under Christian Franz-Pohlmann , assistant coach of the women's Bundesliga team. After Pohlmann's dismissal at the beginning of November 2016, Beck took over the post of head coach for two weeks on an interim basis before the club signed Katja Greulich . Beck returned to the position of assistant coach. Since August 2017, he has been entrusted with the position created for the further development of the structures in the Jena Young Talent Center. Also in 2017 he completed the training to obtain the A-trainer license . After the relegation of the first women's team from the women's Bundesliga at the end of the 2017/18 season and the farewell to Greulich from Jena, the club promoted Steffen Beck to the team's head coach, which in the 2018/19 season in the new single-track 2nd football -Bundesliga women started. There Beck succeeded with the club in the immediate return to the women's Bundesliga.
Beck is moving to VfL Wolfsburg for the 2019/20 season , where he became the head coach of the U20 team and the sporting director of the youth center. In Jena, Christopher Heck follows him in the post of head coach.
