Steffen Mix (born November 25, 1989 in Abtswind ; † September 24, 2017 at Hessenthal ) was a German football referee .

Career

Mix, who was a member of TSV Abtswind , made his debut as assistant referee in the A-Junioren-Bundesliga in 2010 . From 2012 he directed games of the two seasons. From 2013 he whistled games in the Regionalliga Bayern and from 2014 also in the Bayernliga . In addition, he made his professional football debut on August 11, 2013 at the game Hansa Rostock against VfB Stuttgart II and for the first time led a game in the 3rd division . On May 13, 2015, Mix chaired the U-18 friendly game between Germany and Austria . In August he was used for the only time as part of the DFB Cup and was in charge of the first round match between HSV Barmbek-Uhlenhorst and SC Freiburg . On October 7, 2015, he whistled the U-20 friendly between England and the Netherlands .

Mix died on the morning of September 24, 2017 in a car accident in the Aschaffenburg district on Staatsstraße 2312 between Hessenthal and Rohrbrunn , after he had strayed off the road with his Porsche Cayenne without any outside interference and hit a tree. The day before, he had managed the regional league game between FC Pipinsried and TSV Buchbach .

After studying business administration, Mix worked as a purchasing manager in his parents' company.
