Steinberg is a part of the municipality of Marklkofen in the Lower Bavarian district of Dingolfing-Landau . Until 1971 it formed an independent municipality .

location

Steinberg is located on the north bank of the Vilstalsee about two kilometers northeast of Marklkofen.

history

When it was established in 1818, the municipality of Steinberg belonged to the Landau an der Isar regional court and in 1838 it belonged to the newly established Dingolfing regional court , later to the Dingolfing district office and the Dingolfing district . After a citizens' vote, which was carried out on the occasion of the state elections on November 22, 1970, the populations of the communities of Marklkofen, Poxau and Steinberg decided on a voluntary union. As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Steinberg came to the municipality of Marklkofen on April 1, 1971.

The outdoor swimming pool in Steinberg was opened in 1978. The former schoolhouse in Steinberg was converted into a kindergarten between 1994 and 1996.

Attractions

  • Parish Church of the Assumption. The late Gothic choir, the sacristy and the tower date from the end of the 15th century. The presumably baroque interior of the nave, consecrated in 1695 , was replaced by a neo-Gothic one in 1877. In 1934, the nave, which had become too small, was demolished and rebuilt more spaciously. The two side altars, which were removed in 1969, were re-erected in 1993 after restoration.
