Building description

The Kaser of the Steiner Alm is a combed block building with a protruding gable roof and a base made of quarry stones .

history

The Kaser of the Steiner Alm is marked with the year 1820. Extensions followed, including in the 20th century. The Hubertus Chapel was built in the 1950s.

location

The Steiner Alm is located in the area of ​​the municipality of Piding on the north side of the Hochstaufens at an altitude of 1028  m above sea level. NHN . The Alm can be reached on foot or by bike via a forest road . The starting point for hikes is usually the parking lot in the castle forest on the western outskirts of Urwies or the parking lot at the outdoor pool in Aufham .

The Steiner Alm is also located on one of the paths that lead from the north side to the Hochstaufen.

Not far from the Steiner Alm is the Kochalm , which is no longer used for agriculture and is also not served.

Others

In late summer, the alpine festival of the traditional costume clubs and music bands of the communities of Piding and Anger takes place on the Steiner Alm . The mountain mass, which usually takes place on October 3rd, takes place in memory of the innkeeper of the Reichenhaller Haus who was murdered in 1993 .

In 2019, Bayerischer Rundfunk published the five-part television series Anna auf der Alm with Annika Preil . Preil accompanied the dairyman Kathi with the lift and the cattle drive and spent a lot of time on the Steiner Alm in summer.
