The Staufen is a multi-peaked, up to 1782 m above sea level. NHN high mountain range of the Chiemgau Alps in Upper Bavaria ( Germany ).

Geographical location
The Staufen rises with its foothills as the eastern part of the Chiemgau Alps northeast of federal highway 305 (between Weißbach Falls and Glacier Garden ) near Inzell and northwest of Bad Reichenhall, which is located on the Saalach . Anger is located a little further in the north-northeast and Schneizlreuth in the south .

Several differently difficult paths lead to the Hochstaufen : from the easy hiking trail over the "Barthlmahd", over the more demanding path over the "Steinerne Jäger" to the 2003 newly opened " Pidinger Klettersteig " (one of the most demanding via ferrata in Germany). Just below the summit is the Reichenhaller Haus , an accommodation hut.
