The Stena Nautica is a RoRo ferry operated by the Stena Line .

history

In September 1983 two identical ferries were ordered by Danske Statsbaner for the route from Århus to Kalundborg near Nakskov Skibsværft in Nakskov . The ships were delivered in 1985 and 1986 as Peder Paars and Niels Klim . In 1987 the ships were taken over by Stena Line and renamed Stena Invicta and Stena Nautica . The Stena Nautica but was most of the time in Arhus on. In 1992 she was chartered by B & I Line and used in the Irish Sea as the Isle Of Innisfree between Pembroke Dock and Rosslare and later Holyhead and Dublin . In 1995 she joined Stena Line subsidiary Lion Ferry and was deployed between Halmstad and Grenå . In April 1996, the name was changed to Lion King II , before the ship was withdrawn from the Halmstad - Grenå route the following month. In May 1996 it was renamed Stena Nautica and started sailing under the Bermuda flag with home port Hamilton. In the following time, the Stena Nautica was chartered out and used on various routes in the Stena Line network. From February 1999 she operated the route Varberg - Grenå. In 2002 it was rebuilt. The lower passenger deck became a vehicle deck. The passenger capacity was reduced from 2000 to 653, while the vehicle capacity was increased from 604 to 1235 meters. The Varberg - Grenå route was discontinued in January 2020 and the ship switched to the Halmstad - Grenå route.
