The Color Viking is a ferry of the Norwegian ferry company Color Line . It can accommodate up to 1720 passengers and 370 cars . 490 loading meters are available for commercial vehicles .
history
The Color Viking was laid down on May 4, 1984 by Nakskov Skibsværft and put into service on October 18, 1985 for the shipping company Scandlines Denmark under the name Peder Paars . The ship was used in the ferry service between Kalundborg and Aarhus . In 1991 the Swedish Stena Line took over the ship and put it into service as Stena Invicta in ferry traffic between Dover and Calais . In 1998 the ship was renamed Wasa Jubilee and operated on the route from Vaasa to Umeå . Color Line has chartered Scandi Line since 2000, and in 2001 it was officially taken over by Color Line . Under the name Color Viking , the ship is used for ferry traffic in the Skagerrak between Strömstad ( Sweden ) and Sandefjord ( Norway ).
Since January 1, 2015, the engines have been running on marine diesel oil instead of heavy fuel oil as before . The installation of scrubbers , as is done with other units, is no longer worthwhile due to the age of the ferry.
Sister ship is the Stena Nautica .
incident
On January 13, 2011, there was a fire in the engine room. However, the fire was extinguished by the crew and the journey continued.
