The SuperSpeed 1 is a ferry to the Color Line . Like her sister ship SuperSpeed 2 , she was built by the Finnish shipyard Aker Yards . She reaches a maximum speed of 27 knots. The SuperSpeed 1 has been running the Kristiansand ( Norway ) - Hirtshals ( Denmark ) route since March 2008 .

history

In the spring of 2004, Color Line began planning new ferries for Skagerrak traffic. The ships had to be able to reach a speed so that they only needed cabins for the truck drivers for the night crossings. On December 15, 2005, the construction contract was awarded to Aker Finnyards in Rauma . On January 29, 2007, the ship was finally laid down and undocked on July 31, 2007. Color Line took over the ship on February 27, 2008. On March 12, 2008 the ship was christened in Kristiansand. On March 13, 2008, the ship began operating between Hirtshals and Kristiansand, replacing the Christian IV . The travel time was reduced to 3 hours and 15 minutes.

Between the end of December 2010 and the beginning of February 2011, the ship was rebuilt for 12.7 million euros at STX Finland in Helsinki , so that since February 1, 2011, 400 more passengers can be transported. Since then, the largest pizza restaurant in Europe with around 500 seats has been on board. A fire broke out on board on January 16, 2011 during the renovation.

On December 3, 2011, the ship was hit by a high wave. The machines switched off and windows on the bridge shattered. After arriving in Kristiansand, the damage was repaired.

Furnishing

There is a large buffet restaurant on board with hot and cold dishes; these are not included in the fare. A café, a café bar and various shops complete the offer. Passengers can stay in business or voyager class for a surcharge. There screens for TV and Internet are built into the backrests of the seating. There are 54 cabins available for truck drivers.

The ship has 2036 gauge meters and can transport 764 cars.
