Stephen Goldblatt (* 1945 in South Africa ) is a British cameraman .

Life

Stephen Goldblatt was born in South Africa and raised in the UK. At the beginning of his career he worked as a photographer. He gained his first experience as a cameraman in documentary productions. In 1980 he directed the camera for his first feature film. The music film Breaking Glass with Hazel O'Connor achieved cult status. Goldblatt has been nominated twice for an Oscar. In 1992 he lost with Barbra Streisand's film Lord of the Tides to Robert Richardson , who directed the camera at Oliver Stones JFK . In 1996 he was nominated for Batman Forever and was defeated by John Toll , who received the Braveheart Award.

In 2007 Stephen Goldblatt was honored for his life's work at the Polish camera art festival Camerimage .
