action

In the future, Marshal William T. O'Niel will be transferred to a mining station on Jupiter's moon Io . His family is with him. A short time later, however, his wife informed him via a video message that she could no longer bear the constant relocations and that she and their son had returned to earth during his work shift. However, she wants to wait a few more days in a nearby space station.

O'Niel does not have time to deal with it at the moment, as he has several recent worker deaths to investigate. With the help of the ward doctor Dr. Lazarus finds out that the suicides can be traced back to substance-induced psychoses, which are triggered by an extremely powerful amphetamine . The case worsens when O'Niel discovers that station officials are involved in the drug trade. He discovers that the drugs are being administered out of greed for profit to improve performance, and confronts Sheppard, the station manager, with these findings. Sheppard means to the marshal that he should not cause a great stir or face any consequences. Even so, O'Niel continues the fight. As a result, O'Niel becomes increasingly isolated and his deputies refuse to support him despite their duty. His only assistant, Montone, is murdered by one of Sheppard's dealers to show O'Niel the seriousness of the warning. Nevertheless, he still does not allow himself to be intimidated, Sheppard vows to convict him of his crimes and takes down the killer in question. Finally O'Neil learns that two of Sheppard hired assassins are on the way to the station, to eliminate him, remembers when Sheppard that O'Neil is on track to achieve his goal.

He spends the waiting time until the shuttle arrives preparing for the fight and unsuccessfully looking for support. Only Dr. Lazarus supports him. After he has overcome the two killers with their help, O'Niel kills Sheppard's spy within the law enforcement officers involved in the murder of Montone, when he too tries to kill him. Finally, O'Niel settles accounts with Sheppard and his subordinates, thanks Dr. Lazarus for their support and finally takes the next shuttle to the space station, where his family is waiting for him to return to Earth together.
