Gert Günther Hoffmann
Gert Günther Hoffmann (born February 21, 1929 in Berlin-Lankwitz , † November 17, 1997 in Feldafing ) was a German actor , dubbing actor and dubbing director . For decades he was one of the most popular German voice actors for foreign films and series. He was and is still called the "King of German voice actors".
life and work
Hoffmann completed an apprenticeship as a businessman, then switched to the Berliner Rundfunk as a speaker . In addition to Rudolf Platte and Gytta Schubert , he appeared in the Berlin Hebbel Theater in the comedy The money is on the bank . In 1951 he got a film role in The Smugglers' Banquet . Hoffmann could not get big roles in theater and film. Therefore he shifted his professional focus to the dubbing of films.
Most often he gave his distinctive voice to Sean Connery , William Shatner ( Captain Kirk ), Michel Piccoli , Lex Barker ( Old Shatterhand and Kara Ben Nemsi ), Paul Newman and Rock Hudson . He was also sporadically in roles of Franco Nero ( Django ), Patrick McGoohan , Frank Sinatra , Kirk Douglas , Clint Eastwood ( Two Glorious Scoundrels ), Marlon Brando ( Mutiny on the Bounty ), Terence Hill ( Alone Against the Law ) and Charles Tingwell ( four women and one murder ) in action. In series he spoke Patrick Macnee ( With umbrella, charm and bowler hat ), Francis Matthews (as Paul Temple in the television series of the same name ) and Raymond Burr as Perry Mason . He was also the narrator in the animated series The Pink Panther ("Today is not every day, I'll be back, no question!") As well as the narrator and voice of the leading actor in the classic film Moby Dick (1956) .
A move from West Berlin to Munich in 1970 gave his acting career a new boost. For eleven years he took on the role of Chief Detective Matofski in the ARD crime series Sonderdezernat K1 . In 1972 he played a leading role in the SR television game Tod im Studio and in 1976 in the feature film Der stark Ferdinand . Gert Günther Hoffmann died in 1997 after a long illness at the age of 68. He was buried in the cemetery in Oberhaching .
