action
Gustav Kühne's profession is cracking the safe, which he practices with dedication. When he and his two teenage sons come home from a burglary on the night of his fortieth birthday, he is pinned down by a detective. He vows to God that for forty years the locksmith trade he has learned will only be legal if the inspector finds no incriminating evidence. He's actually lucky, the Commissioner has to leave without having achieved anything.
Kühne will be eighty, his sons have succeeded, one as a high school director and the other as a major publisher. “The bold Gustav” decides to give himself a burglary in a “pretty little bank” after his birthday vows have expired. His sons' hair stands on end. But the publisher finally has an idea of how everyone involved can get their rights and the whole thing to a surprising happy ending.
