Steve Alder

Stephen John "Steve" Alder (born 1950 in Leyton , London , England , † March 1997 ) was a British actor .

Life

Alder began his theater career in the 1970s, including in 1972 in the West End of London alongside Richard O'Brien at the Shaftesbury Theater in the musical Hair , and as Jesus Christ in the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar at the Palace Theater . In 1973 he starred in a production of Grease at the New London Theater alongside Richard Gere .

He had his television debut in 1979 in the BBC - TV film Kiss the Girls and Make Them Cry . During the 1980s and early 1990s, he made a few guest appearances on television series such as The Watcher and The Bill . His only feature film appearance was a small supporting role in Mai Zetterling's film drama Black-Out in Hell's Paradise 1982.

He gained a certain prominence among German-speaking television audiences through the portrayal of the CI5 agent Murphy in the action series Die Profis , which he played in seven episodes in seasons 4 and 5. He had another recurring role on the sitcom Little People and the Fine People . In 1983 he appeared in the Jury court series, of which only 13 episodes were created.

Alder died in 1997 of complications from gastrointestinal bleeding .
