Stephen "Steve" Brimacombe (born May 7, 1971 in Melbourne , Australia ) is a former Australian sprinter .

In 1994 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in Victoria . There he reached the semifinals in the 200-meter run and was seventh in the 100-meter run . The greatest success of his career he celebrated in the following season at the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 1995 . Together with Paul Henderson , Tim Jackson and Damien Marsh , he won the silver medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 38.50 seconds . The day before, the Australian quartet had set an Oceania record in the semifinals with a time of 38.17 s. Brimacombe also competed over 200m in Gothenburg and reached the semi-finals.

He also reached the semi-finals in the 200-meter run at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta . With the season he missed the finals due to a substitution error. At the World Athletics Championships in Athens in 1997 , however, he was eliminated in both competitions in the first round. In 1998 he won the bronze medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur . He ran over 200 m to the semifinals.

Another bronze medal with the relay brought Brimacombe at the 2001 World Athletics Championships in Edmonton . The Australian quartet Matt Shirvington , Paul Di Bella , Steve Brimacombe and Adam Basil only reached the finish line in fourth place with a time of 38.83 s. Due to the subsequent disqualification of the US relay because of a doping offense by their runner Tim Montgomery , the Australians moved up one place in the ranking.

In addition, Brimacombe was a total of four times Australian champion, twice in the 200-meter run (1994-1995) and once each over 100 yards (1992) and over 100 m (1997).

Steve Brimacombe had a competition weight of 75 kg with a height of 1.80 m.
