Steven Michael Robert Howey (born July 12, 1977 in San Antonio , Texas ) is an American actor .

life and career

Steve Howey is the son of director Bill Howey . Howey lived with his parents on a houseboat for the first few years of his life until the family settled in Los Angeles . Here he graduated from compulsory schools. As a young man he worked as a waiter in a restaurant in Littleton ( Colorado ). Although he thanks his good basketball game , a scholarship for the University was, he decided it anyway to try as an actor.

He played his first role in 1998 at the age of 21 in the comedy film Class , directed by his father. This was followed by guest appearances in series such as Emergency Room - Die Notaufnahme , Drew Carey Show or in 2006 a supporting role in the action film D.OA - Dead or Alive . From 2001 to 2007 he played the lead role of Van Montgomery in the sitcom Reba , which should mean his breakthrough. He was most recently seen in episodes of the television series Sons of Anarchy and, since 2011, in the leading role of Kevin Ball in Shameless .

Howey has been married to actress Sarah Shahi since February 7, 2009 , whom he met while filming Reba . His son was born on July 9 of the same year. In March 2015, Shahi and Howey became parents to a pair of twins.

Steve Howey is a member of the Republican Party .
