Steve Masakowski

Steve Masakowski (born September 2, 1954 in New Orleans ) is an American jazz guitarist , composer and university professor .

Live and act

Masakowski graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1974 ; In 1978 he invented a guitar synthesizer. In 1982 he presented his debut album on his own label, followed by two albums for Blue Note Records . He also worked as a studio musician a. a. with Rick Margitza , Mose Allison , Red Tyler , Tony Dagradi and Johnny Adams . He also went on tour with Dianne Reeves and worked with the jazz band Astral Project . He participated in 57 recording sessions from 1982 to 2011.

Masakowski has taught composition, jazz theory and guitar at the University of New Orleans since 1985 , as professor and holder of the Coca-Cola Endowed Chair of Jazz Studies since 2004 . He also published a number of articles in the music magazine Guitar Player and wrote a textbook.

His daughter is the jazz singer Sasha Masakowski.
