Location of Stilles Tal in Rhineland-Palatinate

The Silent Valley is a hamlet that belongs to the local community of Elmstein in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Bad Dürkheim . Sometimes the Silent Valley is seen as part of the Hornesselwiese hamlet immediately to the north .

Geographical location

The Silent Valley runs in the middle of the Palatinate Forest in the southern municipality of Elmstein, west of the 456 m high Birkenkopf . The Grobsbach flows north through the valley, which slopes down from the south , before flowing into the Helmbach from the right at the Hornesselwiese .

The quiet valley in the north is connected to the rest of the municipality via the road that begins at the Hornesselwiese. In the south you first reach the Dachsloch via a forest path up the Grobsbach , where the Silent Valley ends after just under 2 km. 3 km further on, at an altitude of 505 m, lies the Taubensuhl forest house on a mountain saddle .

history

The Silent Valley was first mentioned in 1795, then under the name Hornesselswieserhof . Today there is the Gasthaus Zum Stillen Tal , which is also a guesthouse.
