Stipe Matić (born February 6, 1979 ) is a former Croatian football player .
Career
In his youth, the 15-time Croatian junior international Stipe Matić played at Hajduk Split . At the same club he also gained his first experience as a professional footballer from 1998 to 2001 (although in 1999 he was loaned to NK Mosor Žrnovnica for half a year ). This was followed by a professional odyssey. Practically every year he moved from Hajduk Split to the Hungarian club Vasas SC , then to the Bosnian-Herzegovinian NK Posušje and finally for the first time to Western Europe , more precisely to Switzerland , to FC Zurich . He played regularly for Zurich (22 times) and even scored his first three goals here. Nevertheless, he switched to the following season again, namely to Israel to Hapoel Be'er Scheva . After a brief return to Posušje, he played eight games for the Polish club Górnik Zabrze before moving back to Switzerland - to FC Wil .
At FC Wil, Matić found a certain continuity - the central defender played for four years at the Challenge League club before FC Thun noticed and switched to the promoted team in the 2010/11 season. The Croatian signed a contract with the Bernese Oberland until June 30, 2012, with the club still having the option to extend the contract by one year. Matić has been part of the team since his move to FC Thun. After 3 years in Thun, Matic moved to FC Naters . The defender ended his career on January 31, 2018 with fourth division club FC Vevey Sports 05 .
