The Stotzbach is a brook in the municipality of Kals am Großglockner ( Lienz district ). The brook rises as an outflow of the Schwarzsee ( Granatspitzgruppe ) and flows north of the Kalser Tauernhaus into the Kalserbach . The field name "Stotz" ( Stotzboden or Stotzbach ) is derived from the dialect word for a low, round wooden vessel and alludes to the shape of the terrain.
course
The Stotzbach rises on the Schwarzsee southeast of the Aderspitze in the valley head between Innerem Knappenkopf , Aderscharte and Aderspitze. It is also fed by source streams that arise on the slopes between Knappenkopf and Aderspitze and initially flows south. As a result, it takes on more source streams, with a stream flowing into it on the left, which drains two small mountain lakes below the Spinewitrol . On the right side it takes up source streams from the eastern flanks of the Outer Knappenkopf and the Luckenkogel ( Luckenkees ). Below the Hinteren Ochsenalm, the Stotzbach begins to curve to the east and takes on the Loamesbach on the right, which rises in the area of Großem Muntanitz and Loameswand. In its lower reaches, the Stotzbach plunges steeply into the Dorfertal, overcomes a waterfall and takes another feeder on the right-hand side shortly before the mouth, which also rises in the area of the Loameswand. To the north of the Kalser Tauernhaus, the Stotzbach flows on the left into the upper reaches of the Kalserbach, known here as the Seebach.
