The Stowarzyszenie Kolejowych Przewozów Lokalnych ( SKPL ; German Association of Local Railway Companies ) is the operator of several Polish narrow-gauge railways .
history
In the autumn of 2001, all narrow-gauge railways of the Polish State Railways (PKP) that had remained until then were ceased. The SKPL was founded in Kalisz in 2002 to resume operations on some of these railways. The SKPL only acts as the operator, the routes were previously handed over to the municipalities by the PKP property management.
On February 4, 2002, passenger traffic was resumed on Śmigielska Kolej Dojazdowa and on October 31, 2002 on short sections of Krośniewicka Kolej Dojazdowa . The main field of activity, however, is freight transport, especially on Kaliska Kolej Dojazdowa . Regular tourist traffic is offered on sections of the route in summer.
In 2006 the management of Mławska Kolej Dojazdowa was taken over. On September 18, 2006, scheduled passenger traffic began on the remaining stretch of Krotoszyńska Kolej Dojazdowa between the city of Pleszew and the standard-gauge railway station in Kowalew .
On March 31, 2008, the SKPL was withdrawn from the management of Krośniewicka Kolej Dojazdowa by Gmina Krośniewice . The management of the Mławska Kolej Dojazdowa also ended in 2008.
Efforts to take over the management of Koszalinska Kolej Dojazdowa have been in vain, and the intended start of operations on the standard-gauge line Ostrzeszów - Namysłaki has not yet materialized.
