The Strokestown Road (through sponsorship agreement officially Bishopsgate ) is a football stadium in the Irish town of Longford in the same County . The Football Club Longford Town owns and plays its home games from here. It offers 6,000 places.
history
In the 1990s, Longford Town left its old venue, the Abbeycartron Football Pitch , and moved to the Townland Mullologher. This is about three miles west of Longford town center. The facility is located directly on the N5 between Longford and Tarmonbarry in the middle of fields and some farm buildings. In 1993, Strokestown Road was opened. It had a grandstand and two standing stands, only one of which was covered. With Longford Town's promotion to the League of Ireland in 2000/01 , the project got off the ground with grants from the state and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI). Its current appearance is the result of an extensive renovation into a seating stadium according to the requirements of the FAI between 2001 and the end of 2013. The covered main grandstand on the west side by far exceeds the remaining, one-story tiers without a roof. Next to the tier is the covered players' tunnel and the clubhouse . The seating consists of plastic seats in the club colors red and black. The club name is shown on the main tier with the letters LTFC . It was built in two phases. First there were seven rows of seats on the roof of the stadium building with changing rooms. In a second step, the building was raised and ten rows of seats were added. The roof is supported by eight supports in the spectator area. In front of the stands behind the goal in the north and south, safety nets are stretched so that the visitors sitting behind the goals are not hit by the ball.
From 2001 to the end of 2013, the venue was sponsored by the name Flancare Park , after a logistics service provider . This gave rise to the nickname The Flan Siro , which is still in use today , based on the famous San Siro , Milan's Giuseppe Meazza Stadium . In the seasons 2001/02 , 2004/05 and 2005/06 of the UEFA Cup Long Ford Town occurred in the first qualifying round in the home stadium against Litex Lovech (1: 1), the FC Vaduz (2: 3) and Carmarthen Town ( 1: 5). The stadium has been named after the City Calling recruitment agency since 2014 . In 2018, the stadium won the FAI's SSE Airtricity League Pitch of Year for its pitch .
The stadium name changed in November 2019. The venue is now called Bishopsgate , after the new main sponsor Bishopsgate Group . The club will also have the name on their shirts. With the partnership, promotion to the top division, the Premier Division , is to be achieved.
Visitor record and average attendance
