The Styhead Tarn is a small lake in the Lake District , Cumbria , England . The Styhead Tarn lies on the northern edge of the Sty Head Pass , which connects the Borrowdale Valley with Wasdale .
The Styhead Tarn lies in a cirque that is bounded by the Great Gable in the west and the Seathwaite Fell in the east.
The Styhead Tarn receives water from various short tributaries as well as from the Sprinkling Tarn drain . The outflow of the lake is the Styhead Gill , which is one of the headwaters of the River Derwent .
With an average rainfall of 4,369 mm per year, Seathwaite Tarn is considered the place with the highest rainfall in Great Britain.
