Sulaiman Baba Timbo (born August 14, 1938 in Rokulan ) is a former Sierra Leonean politician and diplomat .

education

After the Public School in Bo (Sierra Leone) Sulaiman Baba Timbo attended the Fourah Bay College of the University of Sierra Leone . He received his diploma in Development Economics Degree (Politics and Public Administration).

Career

Sulaiman Baba Timbo joined the foreign service in 1963. From 1963 to 1965 he was assistant to the embassy secretary at the headquarters in Freetown . He was then head of the law firm in Dakar ( Senegal ) until 1965 .

After that he was seconded to UNESCO until 1978 . From 1965 to 1966 he was an attaché in Paris , from 1966 to 1968 he was an executive assistant. He rose to the rank of administrative director in 1969, which he held until 1971. Subsequently, he was administrative director in the development cooperation and programs department at the UNESCO regional office in Dakar ( Senegal ) until 1974 . From 1974 to 1977 he was the liaison officer of the Unesco programs in the region of Central Africa and East Africa for the countries Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia, Malawi, Zambia and the quasi-independent areas of South Africa (Lesotho, Botswana, Swaziland) and the East African Community. After that he was head of the grants department in Paris until 1978.

From 1978 to 1987 he was the first ambassador of Sierra Leone to Riyadh ( Saudi Arabia ), with accreditation in the Emirates on the Gulf ( Kuwait , Qatar , Oman , Bahrain ) and Abu Dhabi ( United Arab Emirates ). He then temporarily retired from the diplomatic service and from 1987 to 1993 he was managing director of a farm in Sierra Leone.

From February 10, 1995 to March 13, 1997 he was ambassador in Brussels with accreditation in Paris ( France ), the Benelux countries and the European Union .
