Suleiman Abdallah Schleifer , actually Marc Schleifer (* 1935 ) is an American poet, journalist and professor emeritus at the American University of Cairo .

Live and act

Schleifer grew up in a secular Jewish family on Long Island . He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania , converted to Islam and turned to Sufism .

Schleifer is a Middle East expert and was the head of the Cairo office of the National Broadcasting Company (NBC). He interviewed numerous leaders in the Middle East, including Aiman ​​az-Zawahiri , Jordan's King Abdullah II, and then Crown Prince Hamzah . He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter " A Common Word Between Us and You " ( Engl.
