The Sulitjelma ( Swedish Sulitelma ) is a mountain range in the Scandinavian Mountains on the Norwegian - Swedish border.
Sulitjelma is located east of the Norwegian port city of Bodø . At the foot of the mountain range lies the Norwegian town of the same name, Sulitjelma , which belongs to the Fauske municipality . The Suliskongen , located on the Norwegian side, is the highest peak at 1907 m. The Sulitjelma is glaciated. The Sulitjelmabreen glacier stretches to the south and feeds the lake Pieskehaure , in which the Piteälven , one of the great north Swedish rivers, has its origin.
North of Sulitjelma, Lake Sorjosjaure extends east-west, along the south bank of which is the Nordkalottleden , a long-distance hiking trail that connects Sulitjelma with Lake Virihaure in the Padjelanta National Park and overcomes an approximately 1000 m high glaciated pass. The Sorjosjaure is drained via the large lakes in the Padjelanta National Park and thus belongs to the catchment area of the Lule älv .
