Sumpa Yeshe Peljor (born 1704 ; died 1787 or 1788 ), also Sumpa Khenpo , a Mongol from the Baatrud tribe from Oirat, was an important historian, astronomer and pharmacologist of the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism. He wrote in Tibetan. Sumpa Yeshe Peljor came from the Köke-Nur area . When he was eight he went to study at the Kumbum monastery .

He is the 3rd Sumpa Rinpoche ( Khutughtu ) or Sumpa Khenpo from this incarnation series of the Monguor (Chinese Tu ) monastery Gönlung Champa Ling (Chinese Youning si ) in Amdo . In 1748 he wrote his story of the precious tree of happiness there (Tib. Chos' byung dpag bsam ljon bzang ; Chin. Ruyi baoshu shi如意 宝树 史), a story of Indian, Chinese, Tibetan, and Mongolian Buddhism .

His (chin.) Xi Le Ga Er Mi Long established a theoretical basis for Mongolian pharmacology.

He lived in Beijing for two years , worked for the Manchu government there, toured the Wusutu zhao苏 图 召monastery in Hohhot , Dolon Nor , the Ih Ju Bund , Alashan , the monasteries on Wutai Shan in Shanxi Province and other places.

In his chronology of Tibet for the wood-sheep year (1655–1656) there is an entry for the fire-bird year (1657–1658):

"This talk that this King of Tibet (bod kyi de'i rgyal po) is gzim khang gong ma Tulku Dragpa Gyaltsen is just empty talk of attachment and dislike."
