Sunabeda is a city in the east Indian state of Odisha .
Sunabeda is located in the Eastern Ghats at an altitude of 898 m in the Koraput district . The city is located at the eastern end of the Kolab Dam - 15 km southeast of the district capital Koraput .
Sunabeda was created around 1965 when dwellings were built here for the employees of the aerospace company Hindustan Aeronautics .
The city has had the status of a municipality since February 24, 2014 . It is divided into 23 wards . At the 2011 census, Sunabeda had 50,394 inhabitants.
The national highway NH 43 ( Jagdalpur - Vizianagaram ) runs through the city. The railway line (Jagdalpur– Rayagada ) runs north of the city .
