history
According to an article in the Siberian Times , the Sunduki are called the " Siberian Stonehenge ". According to Professor Vitaly Larichev from the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography at the Siberian Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences , the oldest known observatory in human history was built here over 16,000 years ago. The residents of that time could have determined the position of the sun , the phase of the moon and the times of the equinox . The appropriate position for the observations was marked with a stone circle, which can still be seen today.
A large part of a rock had been removed to allow a clear view, and smaller holes had been drilled into the rock so that the sun could shine through them on the days that were known. A long channel carved into the rock would also have served to observe the stars.
