Shira ( Russian Шира ) is a settlement (possjolok) in the southern Siberian Khakassia ( Russia ) with 9448 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010). It is the administrative seat of the Rajon of the same name and was originally founded in 1914 as a station on the Achinsk - Abakan railway line . From 1957 to 2009 Shira had urban-type settlement status .
The largest lakes in Khakassia, Lake Beljo and Lake Shira, are located in the vicinity of Schira .
