Sung Woo-je (born January 31, 1992 ) is a South Korean ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Daemyung Killer Whales in the Asia League Ice Hockey since 2017 .

Career

Sung Woo-je began his career as a hockey player in Canada with the Calgary Royals. He then played for the Edga School team for two years before being on the ice for various teams in the Alberta Junior Hockey League from 2009 to 2012 . After a short interlude at HC Keski-Uusimaa in the Finnish second division , Sung played from December 2012 to 2014 in his South Korean homeland for Anyang Halla in the Asia League Ice Hockey . In 2014 he moved to Japanese league competitor Nippon Paper Cranes for a year . Since 2015 he has been back at Anyang Halla, with whom he won the Asia League in 2016 and 2017. He then switched to the Daemyung Killer Whales .

International

For South Korea, Sung Woo-je took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championships 2010 in Division I, where he led his team onto the ice as team captain.

His debut in the men's national team at the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi 2014 . In 2015 he took part in the World Cup in Division I for the first time, where he was promoted from the B to the A group in Division I with the South Korean team.
