Sunil Mann (born June 21, 1972 in Zweisimmen ) is a German-speaking Swiss writer who has lived in Zurich since 1992 .

Life

Sunil Mann was born in the Bernese Oberland / Switzerland as the son of Indian immigrants. He spent his youth in Spiez with foster parents. He attended high school in Interlaken . He studied psychology and German language and literature in Zurich , broke off his studies and completed an apprenticeship in gastronomy at the Belvoirpark hotel management school.

Sunil Mann worked for a long time as a part-time flight attendant at Swiss , Switzerland's national airline, interrupted by stays in Israel, Egypt, Japan, India, Paris, Madrid and Berlin, some of which lasted several months.

Around three dozen short stories and short thrillers have been published in various anthologies since 2001, when he published his first short story with Andiamo Verlag . He has also received a number of prizes, including the sponsorship award from the Dienemann Foundation in Lucerne, the Agatha Christie Prize awarded by S. Fischer Verlag, and the Berlin studio grant from the Canton of Zurich .

Fang Schuss, his crime debut, takes place in Zurich's District 4 and was awarded the Zurich crime prize in spring 2011. The protagonist is the Indian private investigator V.  J. Kumar. His second novel Festival of Lights was also published in French by the Geneva publishing house Éditions des Sauvages.

The writer is a member of the Swiss Authors (since 2006), the German-speaking Swiss PEN Center DSPZ, the crime authors' association Das Syndikat and Pro Litteris .
