The Sunnig Grat (occasionally also Sunniggrat or Sunniggrätli ) is a mountain shoulder in the Swiss canton of Uri , the highest point of which is 2034  m above sea level. M. in the Urner Alps . From there you have a good view of the Uri Reuss valley , the Maderaner valley and the peaks of the Uri, Glarus and Schwyz Alps .

Starting points in the Reuss Valley for the Sunnig Grat are Intschi or Amsteg , from where you can take a cable car to the Arnisee and reach the summit with a mountain hike in 2 to 2½ hours. From Gurtnellen Dorf, the hike over the terrace of Lake Arnise takes about 4 hours.

Only a little below the ridge, is 1978  m above sea level. The Sunniggrathütte, which has 30 beds and is looked after from July to the end of August, next to a small lake ( Sunnig Grat Seeli 1960  m above sea level ).

On the sunny ridge (the high German name Sonnengrat can be found in the old geographic lexicon of Switzerland) there is a rich flora , such as B. Alpine roses .

The Arnisee lake on the ascent was artificially dammed between 1908 and 1912 and serves as a storage power plant for energy generation.
