The Suolema ( Russian Суолема ), also called Suolama ( Суолама ), is an approximately 262 km long, southwest or left tributary of the Anabar in the northeast of the Krasnoyarsk region , northwest of the Sakha Republic and in the north of Siberia and Russia ( Asia ).

The Suolema arises around 730 km north of the Arctic Circle in the eastern part of the North Siberian lowlands . Its origin lies in the Krasnoyarsk region around 130 km west-northwest of the village of Jurjung-Chaja on the Anabar River : It flows from Lake Kieng-Kjuel , which is about 22  m above sea ​​level .

The river mainly flows northeastwards through the eastern part of the North Siberian lowlands and through lakes and swamps, but unpopulated landscapes. On its last kilometers it runs eastwards.

Finally, the Suolema flows into the Anabar , which flows in from the south at a height of 0.1  m and flows about 800 m downstream at m in the context of the Anabar Bay into the Laptev Sea ( Arctic Ocean ).

Catchment area and tributaries

The catchment area of the Suolema, which has a share in the north-eastern part of the Krasnoyarsk region in the upper reaches and is otherwise in the Sakha Republic, is about 7,440 km². Considered downstream, their tributaries include: Lastik-Suolema, Poperechnaja, Rassocha and Nergebil.

Hydrology and hydrography

The Suolema is covered by ice from around the end of September or beginning of October until June . When the permafrost thaws in summer and the ice and snow melt, strong floods often occur .
