Super League I

The Super League I (also known as the Stones Bitter Super League I for sponsorship reasons) was the first season of the Super League in the rugby league in 1996 . The first title won the St Helens RLFC , while Workington Town had to relegate. In the playoffs following the regular season, a separate title, the Premiership, was awarded. In the final, the Wigan Warriors won 44:14 against St Helens.
