The Supersuckers are an American rock band . You describe yourself as the "Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World". The otherwise punk rock band struck with their 1997 studio album Must've Been High Country tones. Therefore it cannot be clearly assigned to a genre .

history

In 1988 the Supersuckers were founded in Tucson, Arizona by Eddie Spaghetti on bass , Dan “Thunder” Bolton and Rontrose Heathman on guitar , Daniel Scott “Dancing Eagle” Siegel on drums and with Eric Martin as lead singer . In 1989 the move to Seattle followed , with Eric Martin leaving the band and Eddie Spaghetti taking over the role. The Supersuckers recorded a variety of songs on several smaller labels , several of which were then released in 1992 as The Songs All Sound the Same . In 1992 her first album The Smoke of Hell was released on the Seattle label Sub Pop . Her second work La Mano Cornuda (Spanish: The Horned Hand ) followed in 1994, also Sub Pop.

In 1995 guitarist Rontrose Heathman left the band temporarily and was replaced by Rick Sims (The Didjits, later Gaza Strippers ) during the recording of their third album, The Sacrilicious Sounds of the Supersuckers and the tour that followed. A turning point in the band's history was Must've Been High , which was re-recorded with Rontrose Heathman, but on which it can be heard for the first time instead of the previous punk garage rock Country.

The greatest hits of the band's first ten years from 1988 to 1998 were released as Greatest Hits albums in 1999 ( How the Supersuckers Became the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World on Sup Pop), followed shortly after by the fifth studio album The Evil Powers of Rock 'n' Roll .

In 2001 they founded their own label Mid-Fi Recordings and in 2003 released their penultimate studio record Motherfuckers be Trippin . After two live albums, Devil's Food was released in 2006 , a collection of the band's singles. In 2008 the last studio album Get it together was released for the time being . On October 11th, 2009 it was announced that Ron "Rontrose" Heathman had left the band at his own request. As a replacement "Metal" Marty Chandler was signed. In 2011 the band went on tour in Europe with the band Thin Lizzy after a short break in which Eddie Spaghetti released a solo album entitled "Sundowner". In January 2014 the studio album Get the Hell was released . Former guitarist Ron Heathman passed away on August 18, 2020. The cause of death is not yet known.

Personnel

Drummer and founding member Daniel Scott Siegel left the band for unknown reasons and guitarist Dan Bolton had withdrawn from the band for some time, but has since rejoined the band. Singer Eddie Spaghetti is now performing as a solo artist, and in 2013 he released his fourth album. Dusty Watson (ex Agent Orange ; Jon & the Nightriders, Dick Dale, Boo Ya Tribe, Slacktone) has now been found as the drummer .

The Supersuckers have recorded with many other musicians and bands, including Willie Nelson , Steve Earle , Kelley Deal from The Breeders and Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam .
